Three Tips to Save on Car Insurance

Author: admin Category: auto insurance quotes

1) If you have changed employment, lost your job or are driving less for other reasons, you might qualify for a lower premium on auto insurance. Discounts often kick in below 7,500 annual miles, but some insurers are more lenient. You can often save up to 15 percent if you drop into a reduced-mileage category, such as pleasure driving instead of driving for work.

2) You can lower premiums by raising deductibles. Just make sure you have enough cash on hand to meet unexpected outlays below your insurance limits. That’s a good reason to build up a reserve fund to cover at least three months of living expenses.

3)If your vehicle has depreciated enough, it might pay to drop collision and comprehensive coverage on it, retaining only the liability portions, to cut premiums. Conversely, it often pays to check likely insurance costs before buying a new vehicle. Rates will be influenced by a vehicle’s price, repair record, safety history and theft record.

Small Business Health Insurance

Author: admin Category: health insurance

Your business qualifies for small business health insurance providing you have between two and fifty employees. If you are self employed then you should consider getting self employed health insurance. There are several benefits to getting small business health insurance. This type of plan will help spread the financial risk around to everyone, and offers lower premiums and more extensive coverage. Additionally, the health insurance provides medical care for you and all other employees as well.

With a small business health insurance people often get group insurance. All contributions from the employers are 100% tax deductible, and you’ll save on payroll taxes too. Small businesses will be eligible for group insurance just as long as you have two or more full time employees working. The cost of this group insurance plan varies based on several factors, which include age, health status, business and/or residential location. If you don’t currently have health insurance for your company you should consider it.

New York Drivers Save on Car Insurance

Author: admin Category: auto insurance

New York’s drivers will save over $500 million because several insurance companies have withdrawn rate increases they sought after considering that rising gas prices have clipped driving. Over forty car insurance companies, whose policies protected 75 percent of the state’s drivers, were waiting for the state’s insurance department to rule on rate requests on Aug. 6, when the regulator told them to demonstrate how they were factoring in reduced driving when setting new rates. New York’s car insurance rates are the third highest in the nation and New Yorkers would have had to pay an extra $600 million had the increases been approved. In June and July 2008, New Yorkers drove 907 million fewer miles than in the same two months last year. This is certainly good news for motorists. Let’s hope the rest of the states follow suit.

Should Car Insurers Issue License Plates?

Author: admin Category: auto insurance

Here is an interesting story. Arizona Department of Transportation Research Project Manager John Semmens has recommended that car insurers issue license plates, and that they be held responsible for the full cost of injuries and property damages caused by their licensees under the Disneyland model. Apparently, Semmens is recommending that plates would expire at the end of the insurance coverage period, and licensees would need to return their plates to their insurance office in order to receive a refund on their premiums. Vehicles driving without insurance would thus be easy to spot because they would not have license plates, or the plates would be past the marked expiration date. Interesting proposal. I like the idea myself.
